Men B and Men ACWY Update

Meningitis B Information Notice

Due to a recent meningitis B outbreak in Canterbury, we have seen an increase in enquiries about vaccinations.

Patients born after 2015 will have received the meningitis B (MenB) vaccine as part of the routine childhood immunisation schedule. At present, there is no catch-up programme available for the MenB vaccine.

From August 2015, children in school Year 9 were offered the MenACWY vaccine, which protects against other strains of meningitis. If you missed your MenACWY vaccination, you can still receive it at the practice up to your 25th birthday.

You can check your vaccination history via the NHS App, or we can provide a copy of the records we hold via email. Please note that we only have records of vaccinations that have been reported to us.
